Literature Day: Volunteers Needed

2012 Theme: American Tall Tales

Monday, May 14

Literature Day will be here soon! This is a full-day of fun for the students! Literature Day is a day where we have a specific theme and everything we do that day revolves around that theme. In the past, we’ve done such themes as Pioneer Day (we had covered wagon rides, the kids dressed up for that era, we panned for gold) and Dr. Seuss Day (we had a visit from the Cat in the Hat, Green Eggs & Ham lunch, made ooblek).

We need someone or a committee to take over & be in charge of this event. We also need lots of volunteers to make this day run smoothly. If you are interested in the committee or being the chairperson, please contact Christy Johnson-Fullwood: Calliesbargainbasement @ gmail.com

Celebrating Easter

NCCA staff and students will celebrate Easter on Wednesday, April 4.

In the morning, we will host the Ministerial Breakfast as a thank you for their continued support. PTSF will provide the breakfast. We are asking parents to contribute breakfast casseroles, juice, fruit and pastries. If you can supply any of these items, please bring them to the school during morning drop-off on Wednesday.

At lunchtime, it’s the annual Easter Luncheon/Egg Hunt! All students will enjoy a delicious lunch of ham, mashed potatoes, corn, applesauce & cupcakes. Then, High Fives! through third grades will participate in the Easter egg hunt. Those students should bring in a basket or egg carton to hold all of their eggs.

Calling All Ball Players!

The New Castle Amateur Baseball Association is holding sign-ups for summer baseball & softball leagues. Sign-ups will be held Monday, April 2 and Thursday, April 5 at George Washington School, from 6PM – 8PM.

Benefit for Liz Richards

The NCCA family has joined the community to help Liz Richards and her family. Liz was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia last November. Her intense chemotherapy treatments make it impossible to for her to work, so Liz’s family and friends have organized a fundraiser to help Liz & her family.

Night at the Races to benefit Liz Richards will be held at St. John’s Hall on Saturday, April 28, at 6PM. Tickets are $10 and include dinner & drinks. You may purchase tickets through the school office – just send in your money and we will send tickets home with your child.More information is included in the printable flier; please feel free to distribute it wherever it’s appropriate.

Thank you!

Items Needed for Science Lab

The science lab has been very popular this year and the plan is to continue it for next year. There are many consumables that are needed. You can help us keep the science lab operating by picking up one or two things as you shop and donating them to the school.
Click here for a complete list of items. As always, we appreciate your continued support for our school!
